Iraqi Fitness Now Hits Home

new5202ja1s_tpsI certainly never thought I’d be posting more than one link to an exercise-trend-in-Iraq story here, but that’s what you get for living in interesting times. While some Iraqis (mostly the men) can’t get enough at their local gyms, many (mostly the women) are exploring home workout options.  This AP story discusses the increased numbers of exercise equipment in Iraqi homes — part convenience, part safety. And with the scarcity of resources there, each workout involves more than just time and sweat. “When Waleed plugs in her treadmill, the whole family has to do without electricity till she’s done,” reporter Mike Tharp writes.

Now that’s dedication.
